Sub-issues def<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

• Micronutrient deficiencies: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of<br />

the condition that results from eat<strong>in</strong>g a diet <strong>in</strong> which certa<strong>in</strong><br />

nutrients are lack<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> excess (too high <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>take) or <strong>in</strong> the<br />

wrong proportions. Reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of the<br />

condition that results from a diet <strong>in</strong> which certa<strong>in</strong> micronutrients<br />

are lack<strong>in</strong>g (e.g. z<strong>in</strong>c, iron, vitam<strong>in</strong> A, iod<strong>in</strong>e).<br />

• NCDs: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of non-communicable,<br />

chronic diseases – <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g cardiovascular diseases, diabetes,<br />

cancer <strong>and</strong> chronic respiratory diseases.<br />

• Obesity: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of the condition of<br />

abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that impairs health with<br />

a body mass <strong>in</strong>dex greater than or equal to 30.<br />

• Overweight: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of the condition<br />

of abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that impairs health<br />

with a body mass <strong>in</strong>dex of 25–30.<br />

• Stunt<strong>in</strong>g: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of the condition of<br />

hav<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>adequate nutrition that prevents children from grow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

or develop<strong>in</strong>g properly, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g physically <strong>and</strong> mentally.<br />

• Underweight: reduc<strong>in</strong>g the risk <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>cidence of the condition<br />

of weigh<strong>in</strong>g less than is considered healthy for one’s age, height<br />

<strong>and</strong> build.<br />

Food <strong>and</strong> nutrition security<br />

Contribut<strong>in</strong>g to the availability of <strong>and</strong> affordable access to<br />

sufficient, safe, nutritious food.<br />

Maternal, <strong>in</strong>fant <strong>and</strong> young children nutrition<br />

Improv<strong>in</strong>g the nutrition of mothers, <strong>in</strong>fants, <strong>and</strong> children<br />

for better health <strong>and</strong> wellbe<strong>in</strong>g outcomes.<br />
