In Switzerl<strong>and</strong> dur<strong>in</strong>g 2014, the Senior Women at <strong>Nestlé</strong><br />
Group was created. It is a movement with a strong commitment<br />
to help accelerate <strong>Nestlé</strong>’s j<strong>our</strong>ney to becom<strong>in</strong>g a genderbalanced<br />
company by 2018. Together, the group seeks to:<br />
• Be role models to upcom<strong>in</strong>g talent;<br />
• Participate <strong>in</strong> high-profile projects, ensur<strong>in</strong>g diversity <strong>and</strong><br />
complementarity of th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>in</strong>g with<strong>in</strong> the team; <strong>and</strong><br />
• Ensure <strong>Nestlé</strong> is recognised as an employer of choice for<br />
men <strong>and</strong> women <strong>in</strong> external speak<strong>in</strong>g engagements.<br />
Celebrat<strong>in</strong>g International Women’s Day <strong>2015</strong><br />
International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate<br />
the achievements of women, while call<strong>in</strong>g for greater equality. At<br />
<strong>Nestlé</strong>, events took place to mark the occasion across <strong>our</strong><br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g social media posts that were published to<br />
more than 1 million followers. Our employee chat room received<br />
more than 145 posts, with topics cover<strong>in</strong>g manag<strong>in</strong>g work–life<br />
balance, key elements of success <strong>and</strong> critical competencies,<br />
unconscious bias, leadership style, mobility, mentor<strong>in</strong>g, personal<br />
br<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> career learn<strong>in</strong>g experiences.<br />
At <strong>Nestlé</strong> Professional, an <strong>in</strong>ternal video was produced<br />
celebrat<strong>in</strong>g the important contribution that women are mak<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
the bus<strong>in</strong>ess across the Sales function.<br />
It takes dedication <strong>and</strong> focus, but it also takes<br />
top-level managers to acknowledge their bias <strong>and</strong><br />
see the great potential <strong>in</strong> a c<strong>and</strong>idate with different<br />
leadership <strong>and</strong> communication styles.”<br />

BE WOMEN. By this, I mean embrac<strong>in</strong>g <strong>our</strong> female<br />
traits <strong>and</strong> leverag<strong>in</strong>g those as strengths rather than<br />
try<strong>in</strong>g to mask them to be successful <strong>in</strong> a ‘man’s<br />
world’. Studies show these ‘traditionally fem<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>e’<br />
traits are what is miss<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> much bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
leadership today.”<br />
Vanessa Blewitt, Learn<strong>in</strong>g Effectiveness Lead<br />
<strong>Nestlé</strong> Pakistan, <strong>in</strong> collaboration with Aurat Foundation,<br />
organised a platform event where <strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> successful<br />
women shared their stories with others. The theme for the event<br />
was ‘Mak<strong>in</strong>g it happen: <strong>in</strong>spirational stories of Pakistani women<br />
turn<strong>in</strong>g the tide’.<br />
<strong>Nestlé</strong> Philipp<strong>in</strong>es cont<strong>in</strong>ued to run its Women Movers Awards,<br />
an <strong>in</strong>itiative to raise awareness of the contribution women make to<br />
its bus<strong>in</strong>ess. In <strong>2015</strong>, 52 nom<strong>in</strong>ees were received across all sites<br />
<strong>and</strong> factories. Senator Pia Cayetano was <strong>in</strong>vited as a guest speaker<br />
at an awards ceremony held at the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Philipp<strong>in</strong>es head office.<br />
A champion of women’s rights, health <strong>and</strong> education, <strong>and</strong> the<br />
youngest woman ever to be elected to the Philipp<strong>in</strong>e Senate,<br />
Senator Pia shared her own <strong>in</strong>spir<strong>in</strong>g story with <strong>our</strong> employees.<br />
