In <strong>2015</strong>, the relaunched Lead<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Way Programme<br />

was attended by 70 participants, while nearly 400 employees<br />

participated <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Leadership Programme.<br />

Master<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>Nestlé</strong> Leadership Framework<br />

In <strong>2015</strong>, we completed the curriculum for <strong>our</strong> <strong>Nestlé</strong><br />

Leadership Framework (NLF). We published it on <strong>our</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>tranet as an <strong>in</strong>teractive document, Master<strong>in</strong>g the NLF.<br />

It provides detailed learn<strong>in</strong>g paths for <strong>our</strong> three employee<br />

levels (all employees, leaders <strong>and</strong> senior leaders). The<br />

document acts as a map for <strong>our</strong> people to plan their<br />

leadership development j<strong>our</strong>ney, with a way to best suit<br />

personal development needs <strong>and</strong> career aspirations. It is<br />

easy to navigate <strong>and</strong> employees can explore c<strong>our</strong>se<br />

descriptions <strong>and</strong> other <strong>in</strong>formation, help<strong>in</strong>g them choose<br />

the right c<strong>our</strong>se at the right time.<br />

Respond<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>in</strong>ternational dual-career relationships<br />

With a presence <strong>in</strong> more than 197 countries, <strong>Nestlé</strong> offers a<br />

wide range of opportunities for people to work abroad.<br />

Together with other mult<strong>in</strong>ationals, we have launched a<br />

network that helps dual-career spouses with their local job<br />

search <strong>and</strong> professional <strong>in</strong>tegration <strong>in</strong> a new country.<br />

The International Dual Career Network (IDCN) is an<br />

<strong>in</strong>dependent non-profit association <strong>and</strong> is currently chaired by<br />

the Head of Diversity at <strong>Nestlé</strong>. We cont<strong>in</strong>ue to lead 4 out of<br />

11 networks, which means <strong>our</strong> local operat<strong>in</strong>g companies<br />

manage the network <strong>in</strong> their respective country. We also<br />

provide office space <strong>and</strong> logistics support to the <strong>in</strong>dependent<br />

Global IDCN Coord<strong>in</strong>ator.<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>our</strong> people<br />

Our tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g is designed to enhance personal performance <strong>and</strong><br />

to help achieve <strong>our</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess goals. Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programmes are<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uously changed <strong>and</strong> improved to meet bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs.<br />

They are delivered by <strong>in</strong>ternal <strong>and</strong> external providers, <strong>and</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

In addition to the Rive-Re<strong>in</strong>e c<strong>our</strong>ses, <strong>in</strong> the table below we<br />

have provided an overview of some of <strong>our</strong> management-level<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g run dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>2015</strong>, which took place all over the world.<br />

Management c<strong>our</strong>ses are tracked at Rive-Re<strong>in</strong>e, while local<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g programmes are managed <strong>and</strong> recorded locally.<br />

One example of local tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Markets is <strong>Nestlé</strong> USA,<br />

which has tra<strong>in</strong>ed 1470 leaders so far by leverag<strong>in</strong>g its local<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g res<strong>our</strong>ces.<br />

Employee mentor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> coach<strong>in</strong>g<br />

We have recognised for a number of years that coach<strong>in</strong>g is<br />

both a bus<strong>in</strong>ess performance accelerator <strong>and</strong> a great<br />

opportunity for <strong>in</strong>dividuals to develop themselves. To embed<br />

coach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to <strong>our</strong> culture, we have developed the Common<br />

Framework <strong>and</strong> Toolkit. It is a ‘liv<strong>in</strong>g’ document, built on<br />

exist<strong>in</strong>g coach<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>itiatives, <strong>and</strong> acts as a first step to<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegrate <strong>our</strong> coach<strong>in</strong>g vision, best practices, processes <strong>and</strong><br />

measures across the Group. We have also put <strong>in</strong> place a<br />

coach<strong>in</strong>g network, where each of <strong>our</strong> participat<strong>in</strong>g markets<br />

receives a coach<strong>in</strong>g network representative to coord<strong>in</strong>ate<br />

activities. In <strong>2015</strong>, 11 markets are active members, with more<br />

markets prepar<strong>in</strong>g to jo<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> 2016.<br />

Mentor<strong>in</strong>g helps accelerate development through<br />

relationship-based support, transfer of experience, of key<br />

<strong>in</strong>sights <strong>and</strong> of unwritten rules, as well as br<strong>in</strong>g<strong>in</strong>g exposure to<br />

areas beyond a current role. The Corporate Mentor<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Programme has been replaced by more targeted schemes<br />

tak<strong>in</strong>g place at a Zone level. The schemes pair mentees with a<br />

senior leader for around 12 to 18 months <strong>and</strong>, as part of <strong>our</strong><br />

HR priorities, more than 27 markets were operat<strong>in</strong>g local<br />

mentor<strong>in</strong>g programmes by the end of <strong>2015</strong>.<br />
