513. GEULLE (Prov. Limburg) -
The zoological garden "Blokker" had a collection of lions, tigers, panthers
and other wild cats. This collection was removed to Simpelveld, later to
Waubach and in the end it was housed in the zoological garden "Klant" at
Valkenburg (1963). This garden existed till 1973. Due to unfavourable circumstances
it had to be closed. The destiny of the collection is unknown.

Father of Steven Jan van Geuns (q.v.). Physician at Groningen. Prof. med.,
chem., bot. and obstetrics at Harderwijk and also archiater of Gelderland
since 1776. Later also Prof. pathology and therapy at Harderwijk. 1791 Prof.
med, and pathol. at Utrecht University, in 1795 also botany.
Owner of a cabinet of minerals and fossils (ca. 1,000 numbers in 1817), anatomical
and pathological specimens, a herbarium of ca. 3,000 specimens, and
