military service with the cadets in Holland, He kept a boarding-school for
the Dutch nobility at 's-Gravenhage. Later on he was a journalist and editor
of the "Mercure historique et politique".
He possessed a collection of worms and shipworms, Author of "Observations
sur l'origine, la constitution et la nature des vers de mer qui percent les
vaissaux et les piliers des jetes et de estacades", ed. 2, La Haye 1733, 52
p. C.E. Jordan 1736: Histoire d'un voyage litteraire, fait en 1733 par E.G.

1301. ROUX, J. Philippus - Printer at Maastricht, associated with J. Dufour
since 1775. They printed books in Maastricht as well as in Paris (between
1788 and 1797 under the name J.P. Roux & Cie.).
He was also a distinguished naturalist, whose collection of fossils was confiscated
