Utrecht). "Rentmeester" (Bailiff) of Rhoon and Pendrecht, Albrandswaard and<br />

Piershil 1872-1909. One of the founders of the NDV (<strong>Dutch</strong> Zool. Soc,), of<br />

which he became the first honorary treasurer in 1872.<br />

He possessed a cabinet of shells. He purchased lots of J. Voorhoeve (q.v.)<br />

in 1872, Roeters van Lennep (q.v.) in 1876 and of Rethaan Macare (q.v.) in<br />

1888, He revised the shell collections of the Rotterdam Zool. Garden and of<br />

the RMNH. After his death his collections and library were offered for sale<br />

in 1920. Sale catalogue 9-10 June 1920 in "Artis". Max Weber acquired the<br />

collection for the University of Amsterdam, The shell collection is now in<br />

the Zool. Museum Amsterdam. It is of considerable value and contains many<br />

type specimens (Beaufortia XI, 1964, p. 3). The fine and historical book<br />

collection was purchased by the Univ. of Amsterdam. Between 1874 and 191.9<br />

Schepman published some 65 papers, incl. the results of expeditions and revision<br />
