A large family, of which many members were interested in natural history. It<br />

was not always possible to find out which of them was meant by some short<br />

notes in literature. The most important members possessing a cabinet were<br />

David van Lennep, Jacob Cornelis Sylvius van Lennep and Cornelis van Lennep.<br />

"Commissaris" of the Town of Amsterdam, etc. President of the "Nationale<br />

Vergadering" (National Meeting) 1796, Son of David van Lennep (q.v.).<br />

Possessed a collection of insects; got the collection of his brother Jacob<br />

Cornelis Sylvius (q.v.) and he also possessed a cabinet of shells and zoophytes.<br />

Via Prof. D.J. van Lennep, son of Cornelis, the collection came in<br />

Haarlem. Son of David and brother of Cornelis van Lennep (q.v.). Member of<br />

the "Vroedschap" (Counsil) of Haarlem. He had no children.<br />

Possessed a collection of birds, mammals etc. that after his death came in<br />
