alive at Gulpen (Prov. Limburg). Geologist; head of the "Geologisch Bureau"<br />

of the "Rijksgeologische Dienst" at Heerlen till 1978 (personal inform.).<br />

An important collection of sea-shells (recent and fossil) presented to the<br />

Zool. Mus. Amsterdam in 1939. Jutting 1939, p. 231, 237; C.O. van Regteren<br />

Altena described some of the shells of this collection in his doctor's thesis<br />

"Bijdrage tot de kennis der fossiele, subfossiele en recente mollusken,<br />

die op Nederlandse stranden aanspoelen, en hunner verspreiding" (1937).<br />
