1604. VINK, Peter - 1713 Gorinchem - buried 10 Febr. 1773 Rotterdam (buried<br />

again later on at Gorinchem). Dr. med., physician at Rotterdam. Succeeded<br />

his uncle Willem Vink (ca. 1680-1763) as a Lecturer of anatomy and surgery<br />

in 1747, at Rotterdam. He was propagator of French surgery in the Netherlands.<br />

He possessed a fine collection of surgical instruments, that played an important<br />

role in 18th century surgery at Rotterdam. It was inherited by his<br />

son <strong>Hendrik</strong> Vink (1740-1805) his successor as a Lecturer of anatomy an surgery<br />

in 1763. In 1850 the collection was totally revised, by forming a separate<br />

division for historical instruments and by classifying the remaining<br />

according to Malgaigne Is "Manuel de medecine operatoire" (1834). In 1857<br />

this "Armamentarium chirurgico-obstetricum" was the richest collection of<br />

surgical instruments in the Netherlands. An average number of 80 instruments<br />

was lent out each month. The collection was re-organized in 1887; but it is<br />

hardly been mentioned since then. Its definitive dissolution seems to have<br />

He possessed a fine collection of paintings, drawings and plates. His cabinet<br />

His cabinet was sold at Amsterdam in 1769, cf. Vosmaer 1790. Boeseman 1970,<br />

p. 178 (points to the name Visser in the auction catalogue of Seba, 1752,<br />

Possessed an elaborate collection of books, instruments and natural history<br />

objects. The collection was sold in his house at the Brakstraat (books 16-23<br />

Sept., cabinet 3-5 Oct. 1799), The cabinet contained: anat. 55 nrs., mammals<br />

in liquor 44 nrs., creeping animals 37 nrs., snakes 38 nrs., fishes and
