Haarlem, Lawyer. In 1815 Member of the Court of Civil Justice at Paramaribo;
1821 judge-advocate; 1828 President of the Court of Justice. In 1830 he returned
to Holland.
He possessed a collection of ca. 250 stuffed birds from Guyana. The collection
was presented to the RMNH, the duplicates to the Univ. of Groningen.

1051. MIST, Jacob Abraham Uitenhage de - 30 April 1749 Zaltbommel - 3 Aug.
1823 Voorburg. Secretary of Kampen 1.795; Member of the National Meeting
1796-1798; Commissar-general in S,-Africa 1802-1805, later he was Councillor
of State ("Staatsraad") and member of the "Eerste Kamer" (First Chamber).
In 1.803 he sent a box of ores and naturalia to the "Hollandsche Maatschappij"
of which he was one of the Directors. In 1805 he brought with him a
collection of insects, brought together by Dr. M.H.K. Lichtenstein, physician
of Governor general J.W. Janssens, on his travels with Mist. At that
time it was the most complete collection of African insects in Europe.

1055. MOLENGRAAFF, Gustaaf Adolf Fred erik - 27 Febr. 1.860 Nijmegen - 26
March 1942 Wassenaar. Educated at Leiden and Utrecht, graduated both in
geology and biology. As a botanist he took part in an expedition to the West
Indies under W.F.R. Suringar and K. Martin. Lecturer (1888-1891), and Prof.
of mineralogy, geology and paleontology (1891-1897) at Amsterdam University;
geologist in the S.-African republic 1897-1905; Prof. at the Technical University
at Delft 1906-1930.
His collection of Macrolepidoptera from Holland came in the possession of
J.Th. Oudemans (q,v.) ca. 1900 (Horn & Kahle 1935-'37), p. 181). Eigen Haard
