Niel. Merchant; member of the "Vroedschap" (Town-council) of Amsterdam,<br />

1646-1658. Son of Governor-General Gerrit Reynst (died 1615 Java). Lived at<br />

the Keizersgracht, East Side, North of the Hartenstraat.<br />

zoological garden on the "Grebbeberg" ("Ouwehands Dierenpark"). Among the<br />

attractions are a zool. park, aquarium, dolphin show, terrarium and freeair<br />

Cabinet of anatomy. His collection was bought by the King Willam I during<br />

The existence of his collection of fossils is only known because of its description<br />

by Bosquet. He also possessed a collection of fresh water shells<br />

from S.-Limburg and France, and tropical shells. This shell collection came<br />

into the possession of his son, B.W.F. van Riemsdijk (q.v.) who presented it<br />
