of the Court of Justice at 1 s-Gravenhage. Amateur entomologist and
ornithologist. Collaborator of Schlegel. Brother of G.M. and N.H. de Graaf
(q. v.).
He collected Macro- an Microlepidoptera and Hemiptera. Sepp 1762-1860, VI,

Collection of molluscs from the Netherlands, the Adriatic Sea, Lugano and
the Balearic Islands, partly to RMNH, partly to Zool. Mus. Amsterdam. Bequeathed
Indian molluscs and other animals to the RMNH; this material was
collected at Celebes by her sister, Mrs. G. Verschoor van Nisse.

1 s-Gravenhage (lions 1351, falcons, boars 1344, 1345), see also: Loisel
1912, I, p. 156; II, p. 29. Storks were kept by the town 1586 (Moll, in: Die
Haghe 1937).
"Het Valkenhuis" near the "Gevangenenpoort" was a falconry (Swaen 1937, p.
13' 23' 91).
In 1 s-Gravenhage were the cabinets of the Stadholder (see Oranje, Vosmaer).
Near it were the menageries of the Prince (Honsholredijk, Loo, q.v.). Gijzen
