"Huis te Dieren" was bought by Stadholder William 11 ( 1642) to be used as
summer-residence. It was greatly embellished by his son William III and
burned down in I795. It had a game preserve and menagerie, started by Wiliam

of the Provincial States and of the Board of the Admiralty. Grandson of
Anthony van Dishoeck (q.v.) and son of Ewout van Dishoeck (q.v.).
His shells are said to have been to a great extent from the collection of
Rumphius (J.R, le Tomlin 1942: Shell sales IV, in: Proc. Malacol. Soc. XXV,
