e.g, the Dutch Tendipedidae, which was the central theme of his doctors
thesis,
He specialized in Bombix, of which he built up the famous collection of the
Zool. Mus. Amsterdam. As an outstanding florist he contributed to the well
known Dutch flora of Heimans and Thijsse. He was also active in nature preservation.
