He specialized in Bombix, of which he built up the famous collection of the<br />

Zool. Mus. Amsterdam. As an outstanding florist he contributed to the well<br />

known <strong>Dutch</strong> flora of Heimans and Thijsse. He was also active in nature preservation.<br />
