During several years "Wethouder" (Alderman) and acting Burgomaster of Valkenburg.
In 1925 his important collection of Cretaceous fossils came in the Nat.
Hist. Museum, Maastricht, This collection was bequeathed to the Museum in
1952. Part of his collection is at the entrance of the "Modelsteenkolenmijn"

The "Wegwijs Museum" (opened 1948) with a diversified collection, gathered
by the "Provinciaal Waterleidingbedrijf Noord-Holland".
In 1982 parts of this collection went to museums in Alkmaar and Leiden and a
new visitors centre "De Hoep" was opened to the public. The collection consists
of stuffed animals (esp. birds), skulls, insects, shells and transparencies
showing animal and plant life in the local dune district. Musea
