1138. OOSTING, Christiaan <strong>Hendrik</strong> - 30 May 1889 Meppel - 12 April 1940 Bandung<br />

(Java). Assistant (1909-1918), then Keeper (1918-1926) at the Geological<br />

Institute of the Agricultural University at Wageningen, afterwards he<br />

worked at the Deli Experimental Station for Tobacco at Medan (1926-1929) and<br />

from 1929 onwards he was paleontologist at the Geological Survey at Bandung.<br />

Collection of recent and fossil molluscs of the Netherlands East Indies. The<br />

results of his studies, particularly of the Tertiary fauna and Caenozoic<br />

molluscs, are used for stratigraphic studies. He described 135 new species<br />
