1138. OOSTING, Christiaan Hendrik - 30 May 1889 Meppel - 12 April 1940 Bandung
(Java). Assistant (1909-1918), then Keeper (1918-1926) at the Geological
Institute of the Agricultural University at Wageningen, afterwards he
worked at the Deli Experimental Station for Tobacco at Medan (1926-1929) and
from 1929 onwards he was paleontologist at the Geological Survey at Bandung.
Collection of recent and fossil molluscs of the Netherlands East Indies. The
results of his studies, particularly of the Tertiary fauna and Caenozoic
molluscs, are used for stratigraphic studies. He described 135 new species
