to Ambon from where he made zoological collecting tours in the Moluccas and<br />

the Aroe Islands. He went on furlough i.n 1867, but returned to the Indies in<br />

1869. Between 1859 and 1872 he sent much material to the RMNH, a.o. mammalian<br />

skeletons, insects from Padang, his entomological collection from Sumatra,<br />

later on also collections from Ambon, the Moluccas and Bornea, esp. insects,<br />
