"Collllllies" (clerk), later Clerk at the Dept. of the Exterior till 1887.<br />

He then settled at Lisse. In 1896 he moved to Doorn, in 1903 to Neerlangbroek,<br />

in 1912 to Doorn, in 1923 he settled at Territet.<br />

In 1901 he was one of the founders of the <strong>Dutch</strong> Ornithol. Soc., of which he<br />

was President till 1911, Disagreeing about the free collecting of birds, he<br />

founded the "Club Nederlandsche Vogelkundigen", of which he was President<br />

till 1930. In 1902 he sold his collection of stuffed birds (stuffed by K.H.<br />

ter Meer) to "Artis" (ca. 1,160 specimens), to the Carnegie Museum, Penns.,<br />

U.S.A. (ca. 750 specimens) and in 1910 he sold the remaining specimens (ca.<br />

400) to "Artis". In 1902 he started collecting bird-skins. His collection of<br />

eggs (ca. 1,500 specimens) carne in the possession of A.A. van Pelt Lechner<br />

(q.v.). After his departure to Territet a collection of stuffed birds (a.o.<br />

ca. 5,000 palaearctic species) came in the possession of Messrs. Sillem (q.v'<br />

& van Marie (q.v.) the remainder came in the Zool. Mus., Amsterdam. Snouckaert<br />

1927 Electro technical engineer, later on Director of the physical laboratory<br />

of the <strong>Dutch</strong> Postal Services (P. T. T.); Prof. electrotechnics at the<br />

Technical University of Delft.<br />

Amateur botanist, specialized in the genus Taraxacum, Famous for his research<br />

in plant distribution in the Netherlands, He possessed a collection<br />

of shells from his grandfather (van Steenis in litt., 1949).<br />

During some time there was a menagerie near the palace of the Stadholders<br />

(e.g. under William III, 1675; Tessin 1914, p. 70 (v. 1787) also mentions a<br />
