Teacher advanced elementary school at Voorburg. 1939 living at Apeldoorn.<br />

Kept a general collection of shells in which the <strong>Dutch</strong> East Indies are<br />

especially well represented thanks to the collections made by his sister,<br />

the late Miss G.J. de Priester, teacher in Java, and by his brother W.F. de<br />

Priester, surgeon of the K.P,M. He was a specialist in Cypraea and Conus.<br />

His collection went to his daughter Mrs. K. Roskam, nee de Priester. Many<br />

duplicates are in the Museum of Middelburg, the Zool. Mus. Amsterdam and in<br />

the Nat. Hist. Museum at Brussels. Jutting 1939, p. 179, 180, 232, 236, 240.<br />

Possessed a collection of shells, esp. Spondilis, Murex and Voluta, collected<br />

in the Moluccas, the Chinese Sea, the Banda Sea, the Persian Gulf and<br />

the Gulf of Australia. He bought a part of the collection Keijzer (q.v.).<br />

Probably some of his shells came i.n the possession of Leo Muller (q.v.).<br />

of the collection is unknown.<br />

Amsterdam. Poetess, painter, sculptor and engraver; friend of Huygens and<br />

van den Vondel. She also performed chemical experiments. Married to the Amsterdam<br />

merchant Jean de Hoest in 1664.<br />

Borrichius 1954 (v. 20 March 1662) saw paintings, sculptures of clay, coins,<br />

shells (of which one was wound in the "wrong" direction), gems, etc, Th,<br />
