167. BOERS, Adrianus and Pieter (brothers) -<br />

Boers, Adrianus, fl. 1731-1753, was Notary at Rijnsaterwoude (1731-1747);<br />

"Heer" (Lord) of Rijnsaterwoude and Waddingsveen; "Baljuw" (Bailiff) of<br />

Voorschoten and Veur. His son Frederik Willem Boers ( 1743-1815) has been<br />

lawyer of the <strong>Dutch</strong> East India Company and since 1782 Director of the Holl.<br />

Maatsch. Wet. Haarlem.<br />

Boers, Pieter, fl. 1730-1783, was Notary at Katwijk (1730-1783) and Noordwijkerhout<br />

(1749-1781); "Schout en Schepen" (Bailiff and Alderman) of both<br />

Katwijk and 't Zand.<br />

Gouda. The family Boers has produced quite a number of notaries and bailifs;<br />

probably here is meant: "Heer" (Lord) of Zuid-Waddingsveen, Burgomaster and<br />

"Raad" (Councillor) of Gouda; "Schout" (Bailiff) of Hazerswoude near Leiden;<br />

Director of the <strong>Dutch</strong> East India Company. Brother of Adrianus van Pieter<br />

Boers (q.v,).<br />

Collection of shells, insects, birds and quadrupeds. Sale catalogue (now in<br />

RMNH) 14 Aug. 1797 's-Gravenhage mentioned by Hagen 1862, p. 61 and by Dryander<br />

1798-1800, I, p. 225: "Catalogue systematique d'une superbe collection<br />
