1616. VOET, Carel Burchart (or Borchart) - 22 June 1671 Zwolle - 1744 or
1745 Dordrecht. Painter and "Commies ter Recherche" at Dordrecht, father of
Johan Eusebius Voet (q.v.). During a long time he was in the service of Willem
Bentinck, first Earl of Portland (q.v.), cf. B. Dubber & J. Verbeek
1975, in: Bull. Rijksmuseum XXIII, p. 7, 10. He made drawings of several insects
and their metamorphosis. He is one of the founders of the society
"Liefhebbers van Neptunus Cabinet" at Dordrecht (q.v.). Author of "Systematische
naamlijsten der torren en kevers", 2 vols., 1725, with coloured
plates.
He possessed a cabinet of shells, insects, birds, animals in liquor and minerals.
