After gaining dominance in Ge<strong>or</strong>gia, the Russian Empire’s officials<br />

attempted to promote the opinion acc<strong>or</strong>ding to which Ge<strong>or</strong>gia has<br />

never been a unified country and different "ethnoses" within the Ge<strong>or</strong>gians<br />

speak three-four different languages <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> m<strong>or</strong>e than 3000 years. F<strong>or</strong><br />

instance, even today a famous specialist, Profess<strong>or</strong> Yuri K<strong>or</strong>yakov of<br />

Moscow State University tries to convince the whole w<strong>or</strong>ld that the independent<br />

ethnoses (EG) include the Megrels, the Lazes, the Ge<strong>or</strong>gians,<br />

the Balians (the upper Svans) and lower Svans, as <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong> the independent<br />

languages, they include Megrelian, Laz, Ge<strong>or</strong>gian, upper Svan (Balian)<br />

and lower Svan.<br />

Modern in<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>mation netw<strong>or</strong>ks are mostly dominated by the Soviet<br />

qualifications. F<strong>or</strong> instance, acc<strong>or</strong>ding to the map of the Republic of<br />

Ge<strong>or</strong>gia given on the website of the W<strong>or</strong>ld’s virtual hist<strong>or</strong>y, within the<br />

Asian Studies Virtual Library, languages of other ethnic groups – ethnic<br />

min<strong>or</strong>ities – are represented as follows:<br />
