In Old Ge<strong>or</strong>gian only the auxiliary verb of unipersonal descriptive<br />

verb <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m was conjugated, personal marker was not attached to participle.<br />

In modern Ge<strong>or</strong>gian both w<strong>or</strong>ds merged in the 3 rd person, followed<br />

by the shift of personal markers towards the beginning of the<br />

<strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m. 1 st and 2 nd persons have been expressed by double prefix: v-čveulvar,<br />

h-qopil-ħar… the auxiliary verb in the 3 rd person is simplified: mosul-a,<br />

ċasul-a…<br />

Unipersonal verbs in all Kartvelian sub-systems are <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>med descriptively.<br />

In certain dialects (Imeretian, Gurian, Lechkhumian) the<br />

auxiliary verb is present in its complete <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m in the 3 rd<br />

person as well:<br />

mosul-arien, qopil-arien, damalul-arien…<br />

In Khevsurian the auxiliary verb sometimes occurs in the <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m of<br />

"as": mamkvdaras… a might disappear and Perfect Screeve <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m might<br />

be present in the <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>m of the participle: amabrunvil (A. Chincharauli,<br />

1960, p. 136).<br />

The same is true of Chan and Megrelian. Megrelian: dop’ĉvelek<br />

"have been burnt", dop’ĉveledi "If I have been burnt", dop’ĉveleda "If I have<br />

been burnt".<br />

The <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>mation which employs the suffix –ere in Megrelian is on-<br />

ly typical to the unipersonal intransitive verbs , while Chan does not<br />

distinguish between transitive and intransitive verbs in Perfect <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>mation.<br />

A part of unipersonal verbs in Megrelain-Chan <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>ms Perfect synthetically<br />

(employs inversive <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>ms): Megrelian: midamirtumu, mingaru…<br />

Chan: miħtimun "I have gone", unjirun "s/he has slept", etc. (G.<br />

Kartozia, 2005, p. 98).<br />

The Perfect includes suffix -a in all types of verbs in Svan dialects.<br />

In Lower Svan dialects ħw-i "I am", ħ-i "you are" auxiliary verb<br />

is present in the 1 st and 2 nd<br />

person <strong>f<strong>or</strong></strong>ms of the subjective paradigm:<br />

Lashkh: ħomār-ā-ħwi, Lentekhian: ħumar-a-ħwi "s/he has prepared me"<br />

(V. Topuria).<br />
