Debt<br />

If a character owes money to another character<br />

or their government and is unable to pay their<br />

debt, then a character must be punished for the crime<br />

of not being able to properly pay their debt.<br />

Bugbear: Criminals worth less than 100 s.p.<br />

are forced to work off their debt as slaves; this is<br />

considered to repay 1 s.p. per month. Criminals<br />

worth between 100-1,000 s.p. are forced to work<br />

off their debt as slaves; this is considered to repay 1<br />

s.p. per week. Criminals worth more than 1,000 s.p.<br />

are forced to work off their debt as slaves; this is<br />

considered to repay 1 s.p. per day. In all cases, the<br />

criminal may negotiate with the plaintiff to pay by<br />

other means.<br />

Dwarf, Black: The criminal is struck on a<br />

hip with a footman’s warhammer.<br />

Dwarf, White: The criminal is fined an additional<br />

1d10 g.p for each g.p. owed.<br />

Elf, Dark: Younger criminals are forbidden<br />

sexual relations for 1d10 years, while older criminals<br />

are beaten to death by their immediate family.<br />

Elf, Light: Younger criminals are forbidden<br />

from playing pranks and making music for 1d10<br />

years, while older criminals are starved to death.<br />

Human: The criminal is fined 1d10 s.p. for<br />

each s.p. owed.<br />

Kobold: Slaves are fined 1d12 s.p., peasants<br />

1d10, serfs 1d8, nobility 1d6, and royalty 1d4.<br />

Troll, Subterranean: The criminal is forever<br />

forbidden from owning currency.<br />

Any merchant who is dishonest or not forthright<br />

about their goods is a considered a criminal<br />

for being a dishonest merchant.<br />
