Sundial: A sundial consists of a flat dial with<br />

12 numbers spaced evenly around its perimeter. A<br />

central arm extends upward, causing a shadow to<br />

fall on the dial when outdoors. The dial is placed so<br />

that the shadow corresponds with the time of day.<br />

Most sundials are accurate to within a 1/4-hour.<br />

BCT is 3 days for a clockmaker.<br />

Sundial, pocket: This is a miniature version<br />

of a sundial, made of bronze and measuring<br />

between 1 3/8” and 2 3/8” in diameter. Although<br />

not as accurate as a full-size sundial, it provides a<br />

rough idea of time. Pocket sundials are rare. BCT<br />

is 3 days for a clockmaker.<br />

Symbol, religious: Most gods have their<br />

own religious symbols, and most priests carry a religious<br />

symbol representing their god or their faith<br />

to their god. These symbols may be made of various<br />

materials and come in a variety of shapes.<br />

Oftentimes, they are hung about the neck on a necklace.<br />

a table leg. Tables are used in a variety of manners<br />

as convenient places on which work is done or food<br />

consumed. BCT is 2 days for a carpenter.<br />

Tankard: This is a mug in which ale or beer<br />

is poured. Tankards are popular in most taverns.<br />

BCT is 1 day for a tinker.<br />

Tapestry: Made by weavers, tapestries are<br />

becoming status symbols by nobility and royalty.<br />

Kings often bring tapestries with them for comfort<br />

when they travel from castle to castle.<br />

Tent for 2 humans: A tent consists of heavy<br />

cloth, some support poles, some stakes, and possibly<br />

some animal skins. Typically, the perimeter of<br />

the cloth is driven into the ground by stakes and the<br />

middle is supported by poles. If it is cold enough,<br />

skins of animals are often draped over the outside<br />

of it. BCT is 5 days for a draper or weaver.<br />

Torch: A torch is a straight piece of wood<br />

with a cloth wrapped around 1 end that has been<br />

dipped in oil. An ignited torch burns for 3 hours.<br />

In sheer darkness, 1 torch illuminates a 10’ radius<br />

and incurs a cumulative - 10 to Sight checks (see<br />

Chap. 8: Skills) for each additional 2’. No single torch<br />

illuminates beyond 30’ radius. For each additional<br />
