Hyssop grows about 2 feet in height and<br />

has aromatic leaves. The leaves are used as a medicinal<br />

herb for pulmonary disorders as well as the<br />

common cold and influenza. Otherwise, hyssop is<br />

used to clean religious places.<br />

Ivy is a common plant that is an evergreen<br />

climber. When the flowers of ivy are decocted in<br />

wine, it restrains dysentery. To remove sunburn, a<br />

character must smear their face with tender ivy twigs.<br />

Juniper shrubs and trees are conifers that<br />

contain an oil that often deters moths and is used to<br />

line chests. Further, juniper oil is used as a diuretic.<br />

Marijuana, though an herb, has an intoxicating<br />

effect, and is dealt with in detail in Chapter 2:<br />

Body.<br />

Magic Mushrooms have an intoxicating<br />

effect and are dealt with in detail in Chapter 2: Body.<br />

Mistletoe grows on nearly any deciduous<br />

tree. It is an evergreen plant with small, greenish<br />

flowers and white berries. The white berries ripen<br />

in December. Also called misteltan, mistletoe is held<br />

in great reverence by druids. Druids search for<br />

mistletoe while wearing white robes. Druids climb<br />

oak trees and separate mistletoe from an oak with a<br />

golden knife. Druids only seek mistletoe when they<br />

have visions that direct them to seek it. Mistletoe is<br />

always cut by druids during a particular phase of the<br />

moon and at the beginning of the year. Druids believe<br />

that the mistletoe protects its possessor from<br />

all immorality. is used as a cure for sterility and as an<br />

antidote for poisons.<br />

Rosemary is an evergreen shrub of the mint<br />

family that is widely cultivated in dry soils for its<br />

aromatic leaves used for seasoning, which yield a<br />

volatile oil. Rosemary oil is used in medicine as a<br />

stimulant, though it is also used in perfumes. Also<br />

known as incensier, this shrub is renowned for temporarily<br />

boosting Reflection by 1d10 sub-ability<br />

points. Due to the increase in memory, rosemary<br />

represents faithfulness in lovers and is used at weddings.<br />

Rosemary is used as incense at religious rituals<br />

and as an ingredient in magical spells. Also, rosemary<br />

is used to flavor ale and wine. This herb has<br />

been considered to be protection from immorality<br />

and sorcery. It is believed that if rosemary leaves<br />

are put under the bed, immoral dreams will be<br />

thwarted.<br />

Rue is a medium-sized flowering plant, both<br />

shrubs and trees. Rue grows just about anywhere,<br />

and the whole plant has a nauseating odor. It is<br />

useful in medicine and perfumery, as well as aromatically.<br />

Rue has anti-magical properties and diminishes<br />

the effects of sorcerous spells. Also, this<br />

herb has been used as an antidote that negates the<br />

effects of the following poisons: aconitine, destroying<br />

angel, histamines, snake venom, and spider<br />

venom. For ages, rue has been eaten to preserve<br />

Vision; it also makes Vision sharp and clear. When<br />

sprinkled in a house, rue is reputed to kill all the<br />

flees. The dried herb may be used to make tea.
