§ A1804 BROOME COUNTY CHA<strong>RT</strong>ER AND CODE § A1901<br />

§ A1804. Reports.<br />

On or before March 1 in each year, each Coroner shall make an annual report for the<br />

immediately preceding calendar year covering generally the work of his office. He shall make<br />

such other reports at such times as may be required by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature, <strong>County</strong><br />

Executive or any other applicable law. Copies of all reports shall be filed with the Clerk of<br />

the <strong>County</strong> Legislature and the <strong>County</strong> Executive.<br />

§ A1805. Disposition of money or property found on deceased.<br />

(A) Money and other property found upon the body of the deceased not required for the<br />

purposes of the investigation shall be delivered to the Commissioner of Finance. Unless<br />

claimed in the meantime by the legal representatives of the deceased, articles held for the<br />

purposes of the investigation, except such writing of the deceased as may be relevant to<br />

the diagnosis of means of manner of death, shall be delivered to the Commissioner of<br />

Finance at the conclusion of the investigation.<br />

(B) Upon the delivery of money to the Commissioner of Finance, he must place it to the<br />

credit of the <strong>County</strong>. If other property is delivered to him, he must, within one year, sell<br />

it at public auction upon reasonable public notice and must, in like manner, place the<br />

proceeds to the credit of the <strong>County</strong>.<br />

(C) If the money in the treasury is demanded within six years by the legal representatives of<br />

the deceased, the Commissioner of Finance must pay it to them, after deducting the<br />

amount of expenses incurred in connection therewith, or it may be so paid at any time<br />

thereafter, upon the order of the <strong>County</strong> Legislature; provided, however, that such money<br />

may be so paid at any time upon the written order of the Surrogate of the <strong>County</strong>.<br />

(D) Before auditing and allowing the account of the Coroner, the <strong>County</strong> Legislature must<br />

require from him a statement, in writing, of any money or other property found upon<br />

persons whose deaths he has investigated, verified by his oath to the effect that the<br />

statement is true and that the money or property mentioned in it has been delivered to the<br />

legal representatives of the deceased or to the Commissioner of Finance.<br />

Fire Advisory Board and Fire Coordinator<br />

§ A1901. Fire Advisory Board; appointments.<br />

There shall be and there hereby is created a <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Advisory Board, which<br />

Advisory Board shall consist of 21 members, all of whom shall be appointed annually for<br />

one-year terms by the <strong>County</strong> Executive, subject to confirmation by a majority of the <strong>County</strong><br />

Legislature. Three such Board members so appointed shall be members of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Legislature, including the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee of said <strong>County</strong><br />

Legislature, nine members so appointed shall be members of the Board of Directors of the<br />

<strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fireman's Association, and nine members so appointed shall be members of<br />

the Board of Directors of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Chiefs Association. The members of the<br />

Fire Advisory Board, except for the <strong>County</strong> Legislator members thereof, shall serve at the<br />

pleasure of the <strong>County</strong> Executive. The members of the <strong>County</strong> Fire Advisory Board shall be<br />
