deemed, to the extent of such conflict or inconsistency, to be superseded by this Charter and<br />

Administrative Code insofar as the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Broome</strong> and its government are affected.<br />

§ C104. Charter effect on local laws, ordinances and resolutions.<br />

All laws, including resolutions, ordinances and local laws, heretofore adopted which are<br />

contrary to or inconsistent with the provisions of this Charter are hereby repealed. All of the<br />

laws of the state relating to the towns, cities, villages or districts of the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Broome</strong><br />

shall continue in full force and effect except to the extent that such laws have been repealed,<br />

amended, modified or superseded in their application to <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> by the enactment and<br />

adoption of this Charter and Administrative Code.<br />

§ C105. Definitions.<br />

Whenever used in this Charter, unless otherwise expressly stated, or unless the context or<br />

subject matter otherwise requires, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:<br />

ADMINISTRATIVE CODE — The <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Administrative Code and all<br />

amendments thereto.<br />

ADMINISTRATIVE HEAD — The head of any administrative unit.<br />

ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT — Any department, executive division, institution, office or other<br />

agency of <strong>County</strong> government, except a bureau, division, section or other subordinate part of<br />

any of the foregoing.<br />

AUTHORIZED AGENCY — Any agency authorized by this Charter, Administrative Code<br />

or applicable law, including but not limited to those authorized by § 224 of the <strong>County</strong> Law,<br />

to receive and expend <strong>County</strong> funds for a <strong>County</strong> purpose.<br />

CHA<strong>RT</strong>ER AND COUNTY CHA<strong>RT</strong>ER — The <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Charter and all amendments<br />

thereto.<br />

COUNTY — The <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Broome</strong>.<br />

COUNTY LEGISLATOR — A person elected from a Legislative District to represent it on<br />

the <strong>County</strong> Legislature.<br />

COUNTY LEGISLATURE — The elective legislative body of the <strong>County</strong> of <strong>Broome</strong>.<br />

EXECUTIVE DIVISION — Includes but is not limited to the Division of Budget and<br />

Research, Division of Computer Services and Division of Solid Waste Management and such<br />

other divisions of the Executive Department as may be hereinafter authorized. [Amended<br />

LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT —<br />

elect a <strong>County</strong> Legislator.<br />

A geographical area of <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> which is entitled to<br />
