§ C1703. Assistant <strong>County</strong> Attorney.<br />

The <strong>County</strong> Attorney shall have the power to appoint Assistant <strong>County</strong> Attorneys as may be<br />

authorized by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature. All Assistant <strong>County</strong> Attorneys shall serve at the<br />

pleasure of the <strong>County</strong> Attorney.<br />

A<strong>RT</strong>ICLE XVIII<br />

Coroners<br />

§ C1801. Coroners; appointment; term; qualifications; elective office of Coroners<br />

abolished.<br />

There shall be four (4) Coroners who shall be appointed by the <strong>County</strong> Executive, subject to<br />

confirmation by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature, and shall serve at the pleasure of the <strong>County</strong><br />

Executive. The elective office of Coroner shall be abolished as of January 1, 1969.<br />

The Coroners shall be physicians duly licensed to practice in the State of New York.<br />

§ C1802. Powers and duties.<br />

The Coroners shall make inquiry into unnatural deaths within <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> as prescribed<br />

by law. They shall perform such additional and related duties as may be prescribed by law<br />

and directed by the <strong>County</strong> Executive or <strong>County</strong> Legislature.<br />

A<strong>RT</strong>ICLE XIX<br />

Fire Advisory Board and Fire Coordinator<br />

[Amended 12-30-1974 by L.L. No. 2-1975]<br />

§ C1901. Fire Advisory Board; appointments.<br />

There shall be and there hereby is created a <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Advisory Board, which<br />

Advisory Board shall consist of twenty-one (21) members, all of whom shall be appointed<br />

annually for one-year terms by the <strong>County</strong> Executive, subject to confirmation by a majority of<br />

the <strong>County</strong> Legislature. Three (3) such Board members so appointed shall be members of the<br />

<strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Legislature, including the Chairman of the Public Safety Committee of said<br />

<strong>County</strong> Legislature; nine (9) members so appointed shall be members of the Board of<br />

Directors of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fireman's Association; and nine (9) members so appointed<br />

shall be members of the Board of Directors of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Chief's Association.<br />

The members of the Fire Advisory Board, except for the <strong>County</strong> Legislator members thereof,<br />

shall serve at the pleasure of the <strong>County</strong> Executive. The members of the <strong>County</strong> Fire<br />

Advisory Board shall be <strong>County</strong> officers and shall serve without compensation, but may,<br />

within the limitations of any funds provided for such purposes by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature,<br />

receive reimbursement for the approved reasonable value of expenses incurred in the<br />

performance of their appointed duties as members of said Fire Advisory Board. The Fire<br />

Advisory Board shall elect annually from among its members a Chairman, Vice Chairman and<br />

Secretary.<br />
