§ 158-3 PARKS AND RECREATION AREAS<br />

§ 158-3<br />

(1) No person shall use any metal detector within the confines of the park, unless such<br />

use is authorized by the Commissioner on a case-by-case basis.<br />

U. Traffic.<br />

(1) Purposes of way.<br />

(a)<br />

No person shall use any portion of the park for purposes of way except<br />

drives, roadways, paths, walks and trails established for such purposes. Paths<br />

established as bridle paths, footpaths or bicycle paths shall not be used for<br />

vehicular traffic.<br />

(b) Snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV's), motorcycles, motorbikes,<br />

minibikes and recreation vehicles shall be licensed and are restricted to trails<br />

and areas provided for them.<br />

All motor vehicles operated within the confines of the park shall keep to the<br />

right at all times while being operated on drives, roadways or in parking lots.<br />

All motor vehicles shall proceed in the direction indicated by posted signs on<br />

drives or roadways which are restricted to one-way travel only within the<br />

confines of the park.<br />

All operators of vehicles within the parks shall stop at all posted STOP signs.<br />

(2) Driving on closed roads or drives.<br />

(a)<br />

No person shall drive upon or along any park road or drive which has been<br />

closed and posted with appropriate signs or barricades. The Commissioner<br />

shall have authority to order roads or drives closed.<br />

(3) Speed limit.<br />

(a)<br />

No person shall drive at a speed in excess of that posted for the area. The<br />

Commissioner shall determine the speed limits in the parks.<br />

(4) Reckless driving.<br />

(a)<br />

No person shall operate a vehicle along or over any road or drive within the<br />

park in a reckless manner or without due regard for the safety and the rights<br />

of pedestrians and drivers and occupants of all other vehicles.<br />

(5) Drag racing; speed contests.<br />

(a)<br />

No person shall participate in a drag race upon any park drive or park<br />

property. "Drag racing" is defined as the operation of two or more vehicles<br />

from a point side-by-side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to<br />

outdistance each other, or the operation of one or more vehicles over a<br />

common selected course from the same point to the same point wherein<br />

timing is made of the participating vehicles involving competitive<br />

accelerations of speeds. The operation of two or more vehicles side-by-side,<br />
