Avoidable Alarms<br />

§ 86-1. Definitions. [Added 9-21-2000 by L.L. No. 14-2000 1 ]<br />

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:<br />

AVOIDABLE ALARM — An alarm dispatch request for response for law enforcement, fire<br />

or emergency medical assistance and the responding agency finds no evidence of a criminal<br />

offense, attempted criminal offense, fire emergency or medical emergency after having a<br />

timely investigation of the alarm site.<br />

EMERGENCY ALARM — Any alarm designed to send a signal, recorded or otherwise,<br />

which terminates in any manner at the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Communications Center or any alarm<br />

system designed to emit an audible signal at the scene of installation.<br />

§ 86-2. Registration required; fee.<br />

A. All residences and businesses containing or installing emergency alarm systems in<br />

<strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> connected to the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff's Department and/or the Office<br />

of Emergency Services must register with the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff's Department<br />

and/or the Office of Emergency Services.<br />

B. Registration shall be upon forms provided by the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff. A registration<br />

fee of $5 should be charged at the time the registration is filed with the Sheriff's<br />

5-1995]<br />

C. Alarm companies shall distribute and collect the registration forms and fee from their<br />

customers and file the forms with the Office of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff or the Office<br />

of Emergency Services. The Office of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriff shall forward a copy<br />
