Automated External Defibrillators<br />

§ 168-45. Definitions. [Amended 7-17-2008 by L.L. No. 4-2008]<br />

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:<br />

ADULT RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES — Adult homes and assisted-living programs licensed<br />

by New York State law and skilled-nursing facilities certified by New York State law that<br />

offer medical or custodial care provided in conjunction with housing.<br />

AED — An automated external defibrillator.<br />

FITNESS/HEATH CLUBS — Those fitness/health clubs with a membership of 200 or more<br />

persons.<br />

GOLF COURSES — All golf courses regardless of size and number of holes, including<br />

municipal, public and private courses.<br />

MUNICIPAL RECREATION FIELDS OR FACILITIES — Those fields or facilities used by<br />

youth and adult organizations for sporting events.<br />

PLACES OF PUBLIC ASSEMBLY — Those places of public or private assembly or<br />

employment and shall include all facilities used for conducting recreational and sporting<br />

events, gymnasiums, theaters, business, malls, and social organizations.<br />

SCHOOLS — Those schools, whether public or private, with an enrollment of 200 or more<br />

students.<br />

YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS — Those organizations with enrollment or membership of 200<br />

or more persons.<br />

§ 168-46. Facilities and organizations required to have on-site AEDs and trained<br />

personnel. [Amended 7-17-2008 by L.L. No. 4-2008]<br />

The following facilities/organizations are required to have an AED on site and a person<br />

available who is trained in CPR and the use of an AED:<br />

A. All places of public assembly during an event at which 500 or more individuals are in<br />

attendance at any given moment in time.<br />

B. All youth organizations during all sponsored sporting or recreational events at which 500<br />

or more individuals are in attendance at any given moment in time, including<br />

participants, officials and spectators.<br />

C. All fitness/heath clubs, during hours of operation.<br />

D. All schools, public or private, during regular school hours and for extra curricular<br />

activities at which 500 or more individuals are in attendance at any given moment in<br />

time.<br />
