§ 210-34 BROOME COUNTY CODE § 210-36<br />

§ 210-34. Voting procedure.<br />

All voting members of the Council are entitled to one vote on any question brought before<br />

Council at its meetings. Unless otherwise specified, a majority of members present is<br />

sufficient to decide an issue brought to a vote. Members absent from a Council meeting may<br />

not vote on business conducted during that meeting, either by proxy or by personally<br />

designated representative. When necessary, the Executive Committee may authorize the<br />

Chairperson to obtain votes from Council members by telephone or mail.<br />

By-Laws Amendments<br />

§ 210-35. Notice.<br />

The notice for a meeting at which final action on a bylaw amendment is scheduled shall<br />

include the text of the proposed amendment and shall be mailed to members approximately<br />

one week prior to that meeting.<br />

§ 210-36. Ratification.<br />

Amendments to the bylaws shall require a two-thirds vote of all voting Council members and<br />

shall be subject to approval by the <strong>County</strong> Executive and Legislature.<br />
