§ A1901 BROOME COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE CODE § A1904<br />

<strong>County</strong> officers and shall serve without compensation, but may, within the limitations of any<br />

funds provided for such purposes by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature, receive reimbursement for the<br />

approved and reasonable value of expenses incurred in the performance of their appointed<br />

duties as members of said Fire Advisory Board. The Fire Advisory Board shall elect annually<br />

from among its members a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary.<br />

§ A1902. Powers and duties of Fire Advisory Board.<br />

The <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Fire Advisory Board, subject to any limitations contained herein or<br />

elsewhere in the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Charter and the Administrative Code or otherwise<br />

established by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature, shall have the following powers and duties:<br />

(A) To develop and maintain fire training and mutual aid in cases of fire and other<br />

emergencies in which the services of firemen would be used.<br />

(B) To cooperate with the New York State Office for Local Government and the State<br />

Division of Safety in effecting the purposes for which said agencies were established in<br />

relation to such programs for fire training and mutual aid.<br />

(C) To act as an advisory body to the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Executive, the <strong>County</strong> Legislature and<br />

to the <strong>County</strong> Fire Coordinator, if any, in connection with the <strong>County</strong> participation in<br />

such programs for fire training and mutual aid and in connection with any <strong>County</strong><br />

establishment and maintenance of a <strong>County</strong> fire training school and mutual aid programs<br />

in cases of fire and other emergencies in which the services of firemen would be used.<br />

(D) To cooperate with the <strong>County</strong> Fire Coordinator, if any.<br />

(E) To administer the fire training program on the local level until such time as the position<br />

of <strong>County</strong> Fire Coordinator is established.<br />

(F)<br />

To perform such other duties as the <strong>County</strong> Executive or the <strong>County</strong> Legislature may<br />

from time to time prescribe in relation to fire training and mutual aid in case of fire and<br />

other emergencies in which the services of firemen would be used.<br />

§ A1903. (Reserved) 16<br />

§ A1904. Fire Coordinator; appointment; compensation.<br />

If and when the <strong>County</strong> Legislature creates such a position, there shall be a <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Fire Coordinator shall be appointed by the <strong>County</strong> Executive, subject to confirmation by the<br />

<strong>County</strong> Legislature, and shall serve at the pleasure of the <strong>County</strong> Executive.<br />

The Fire Coordinator shall be a <strong>County</strong> officer, and the amount of his compensation, if any,<br />

shall be fixed by the <strong>County</strong> Legislature.<br />
