SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT<br />

§ 64-1. Board of Directors. § 64-2. Applicability of statutes and<br />

other laws.<br />

§ 64-1. Board of Directors.<br />

A. The Board of Directors of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Soil Conservation District shall consist of<br />

not fewer than five nor more than seven members, who shall be appointed by the<br />

<strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Legislature. This Board of Directors shall consist of two members of the<br />

<strong>County</strong> Legislature, and the remaining members shall be persons who are not members<br />

of the <strong>County</strong> Legislature, two of whom shall be practical farmers. One of these farmers<br />

shall be appointed from a list submitted by the <strong>County</strong> Grange, and one of these farmers<br />

shall be appointed from a list submitted by the <strong>County</strong> Farm Bureau. The remaining<br />

members of said Board of Directors shall be appointed from the county at large and shall<br />

represent the urban, suburban and rural nonfarm landownership interest. Whenever one<br />

or both of the above-named farm groups lack formal county organization, the <strong>County</strong><br />

Legislature shall appoint members from the county at large in place of members from a<br />

list of nominees from such lacking farm organization or organizations.<br />

B. The two members of the Board of Directors of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Soil Conservation<br />

District from the <strong>County</strong> Legislature shall be appointed annually. The other members<br />

shall serve terms of three years each.<br />

§ 64-2. Applicability of statutes and other laws.<br />

In keeping with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 115 (1944), duly adopted by the<br />

<strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Board of Supervisors and which created and established the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />

Soil Conservation District in accordance with the provisions of the Soil Conservation Districts<br />

Law, all of the terms and provisions of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts Law of the<br />

State of New York, Laws of 1964, as amended, except as hereinabove changed, modified and<br />

superseded, shall continue to apply to, control and govern the creation, policy, organization,<br />

powers, duties, operation and all other functions of the <strong>Broome</strong> <strong>County</strong> Soil Conservation<br />

District.<br />
