7 Data Services Tightening Technology | Bosch Rexroth AG 109/3167.2 Ethernet communication– IP addressThe IP address (IP = Internet protocol) is assigned by the network administrator. It identifies the participantduring data exchange.– Subnet maskThe subnet mask contains information on the network configuration (size of the address area) and isdetermined by the network administrator.– Host nameThe host name is the name used to address the Ethernet participant (the tightening system's controllerunit in this case).– DNSThe task of the Domain Name Service (DNS) is to assign logical participant names to unique IP addresses.This information is provided by the DNS server. Here, the DNS server is entered with its IPaddress which enables the controller to process the name (an IP address is derived from the name) 1) .– Domain nameThe domain name is the same for all of the Ethernet participants. A participant's complete, logicalname is “Tighteningsystem.Domainname” 1)) .– GatewayThe gateway creates the outside connection. If a participant is not found in the network or is a stranger,then the data packages are sent to the gateway. The gateway then searches for the receiver andforwards the data packages.Saving the configuration in the tightening systemThe interface configuration is only valid after the settings have been sent to the tightening system.7.2.6.2 Testing the Ethernet connectionNote You can only test the Ethernet connection if the interface has been configured (see page 107).Some typical test functions to set up an Ethernet connection have been implemented in the tighteningsystem's operating system.
