Thisdetermines the selection of the appropriate hand-held nutrunner.NoteBasics on bolted connections and tightening technology can also be found in “Tightening Technology”,ISBN 3-478-93073-1, verlag moderne industrie.5.1.1 Clamp force and distortion of connected parts, operating forcesFF MF SAf SA = f PAF Af SM f PMfFigure 5–1:Deformation diagram with acting operating forceFfF Mf SMf PMf SAf PAF SF AF KRF PAF SAForceDistortionMounting clamp forceExpansion of the boltCompressive force on the material (compression of the material)Acting operating forceDecrease in force of pressureTotal force mounting (clamp force and operating force)Axial tightening forceResidual clamping forceAxial force, relief of the deformed partsOperating forceWhen a bolted connection is tightened, the mounting clamp force F M stretches the bolt like a tensionspring. The clamping force acts on the parts to be tightened like a compression spring, pressing themtogether. Normally, tightening stretches the bolt more than the parts are compressed.During assembly, the mounting clamp force F M stretches the bolt by the amount f SM . Due to the tighteningforces, the parts to be tightened are pressed together (compressed) by f PM .If operating forces act on the bolted connection, the operating force F SA overlays the mounting clampforce F M . The bolt is additionally stretched by f SA , the compression on the material f PM is reduced by theamount f PA . The deformed parts are relieved by the axial force F PA , but the residual clamping force F KR ,that acts on the parts, remains.System 350 | 3 608 878 040/05.2008
