120/316 Bosch Rexroth AG | Tightening Technology 7 Data Services7.3 3964R communication7.3 3964R communicationThis section describes how to use the protocols 3964R and 3964R+RK512 for serial data exchange betweenthe CS351 Compact System and a partner controller. These protocols can be used to transferidentification codes (see page 79) to the Compact System and output tightening results from the CompactSystem.– Fundamentals of the 3964R and RK512 tightening data output (page 120)– ID code transfer to the tightening system via the 3964R protocol (page 127)– Results output with the 3964R and RK512 protocols (page 128)– Setting results output parameters (page 130)– Time sequence for tightening results data preparation (page 138)– Error messages in connection with the 3964R and RK512 protocols (page 140)Examples for tightening systems with data output via 3964R/RK512Tightening results output to a partner controller with the 3964R/RK512 protocol is only possible via aserial interface. The example below illustrates its design.SPS (via 3964R/RK512)Figure 7–27:Tightening system with hand-held nutrunners and results output via 394R/RK5127.3.1 Fundamentals of the 3964R and RK512 tightening data output7.3.1.1 Protocol descriptionData is exchanged physically between the tightening system and partner controller via a serial interface. Here, you may use the serial interface (X3C1, RS232) or an interface module (IMser) on B1 or B2(RS232, 20 mA, RS422). 3964R or RK512 (Siemens) is used as the protocol for data transfer betweenthe units. In the OSI layer model, the 3964R protocol describes transfer layers 1 (bit transfer layer) and 2 (backuplayer). Additionally, layer 4 (transport layer) is defined in the RK512 protocol. The 3964R protocol is thusa subset of the RK512 (Siemens) protocol. Both protocols will be described in more detail below. Theparts that are not included in the 3964R protocol are highlighted.Write-only access is implemented in the CS351 Compact System when transferring data with 3964R/RK512, i.e. the partner controller sends data (see page 121) to the Compact System and the CompactSystem sends data (see page 121) to the partner controller. This is a point-to-point connection over aserial interface.System 350 | 3 608 878 040/05.2008
