Thispermits a data rate of 250 kbit/s.7.6.1.6 Power supply in DeviceNetDeviceNet permits a supply of 24 V direct current for network participants via a wire pair. This power cancome from one or more power sources.Multiple power sources are necessary if all the connected DeviceNet participants require more powerthan any single power source in the given network topology is able to supply. In this case, the plus wire(V+, red) must be stripped so that each network branch is only supplied by a single power source. The IMdev interface module does not require power from the DeviceNet for proper function. The powerstatus of V+, V– is, however, monitored.7.6.1.7 Grounding concept in DeviceNetTo ensure a constant ground potential in the entire DeviceNet and avoid ground loops, the DeviceNetmay be and must be grounded at exactly one position. Grounding is comprised of:– the V– wire and the shield wire with a 5-pin round cableor– the V– wire with a 4-wire flat cableGrounding should be done as close as possible to the physical center of the DeviceNet, preferably at apower source.NotePlease note that even in the case of multiple power sources in the DeviceNet, grounding may only be doneat a single position. The V– wire, unlike the V+ wire, may not be stripped.7.6.2 Configuration and commissioning of the DeviceNet connection7.6.2.1 Configuration of the DeviceNet connectionThe configuration of the necessary parameters and activation of communication with DeviceNet takesplace via the configuration of the interface. This is done for an IMdev interface module in the BS350 operatingsystem.System 350 | 3 608 878 040/05.2008
