246/316 Bosch Rexroth AG | Tightening Technology 10 Working with the System10.1 Settings in the BS35010.1 Settings in the BS350Prerequisite for installation of the BS350 is the Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system and atleast Windows Installer 3.1. Installation under Windows NT is not possible.The BS350 operating system is delivered on a USB stick (hereinafter referred to as the “System Stick”).The user is guided through the installation with an installation program.NoteFurther information on system requirements can be found in the online help.10.1.1 Setting up multiple BS350 directories with “BS350 Start several times”If several tightening cells are to be managed from one PC workstation, the BS350 operating program canbe set up in such a manner that several instances can be run (also simultaneously). Two prerequisites arenecessary for this:– The directory structure, which contains the parameter files for each tightening cell, must be separatelycreated and managed for each tightening cell.– The operating program must be able to start several times” (see below).10.1.1.1 Installation of the BS350 with the option “Start several times”1. Install BS350 in accordance with the instructions of the installation program.2. In the BS350 V2.000 dialog settings, select the option Start several times.After the installation has been completed, the BS350 is installed in a directory(e.g. C:\Programs\Rexroth\BS350 V2.000).3. Rename the installation directory so that it is possible to clearly assign it to a tightening station.4. Copy the entire BS350 directory for each additional tightening cell. Name the directories in such amanner that they are clearly assigned to the respective tightening station.ExampleThe directory names for four tightening cells may be as follows:– BS350 V2.000 Station 0– BS350 V2.000 Station 1– BS350 V2.000 Station 2– BS350 V2.000 Station 35. Delete the BS350.exe file from all copies, but not from the originally installed version.6. Copy the link with the BS350.exe application to the desktop for each tightening cell. Take over thesame name assignments here as those used for the directories.7. Set the properties for each link:a. Right click on the link and open the Properties.b. Enter the directory for the respective tightening cell in the Start in field.The directory is e.g. C:\Programs\Rexroth\BS350 V2.000 Station 1.c. Check whether the BS350.exe file has been correctly entered in the Target field.This entry is e.g. C:\Programs\Rexroth\BS350 V2.000 Station 0\BS350.exe.Now a version of the operating system with the parameters associated with the tightening cell can bestarted via the respective link.System 350 | 3 608 878 040/05.2008

Click on Start → Run.b. Enter regedit and click on OK.2. In the registration editor, open the section HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFT-WARE\Rexroth\BS350\2.000.3. Change the entry RunMultiple to 1.4. Save the changed entry.The BS350 is now capable of multiple starts.5. Copy the program directory, as described in the previous section.10.1.1.3 Assigning the interfaces to the various tightening cellsThe PC can be connected to a tightening system via the USB interface.Using Ethernet, any number of tightening cells can be addressed from one Ethernet interface on the PC.The necessary entries of the IP addresses are stored in the program directory for each tightening cell andare automatically used during a start to set up the connection via the associated link.NoteThe necessary steps for setting up an Ethernet interface can be found in chapter “Initial operation of theEthernet connection” on page 107.10.1.2 Setting up the Ethernet interface on the PC and tightening system10.1.3 Full version and service packsBoth partners must be configured as Ethernet participants to set up the connection via Ethernet.For the PC, this is done via its operating system; this setting is made for the interface module via the configurationof the tightening channel in the BS350 operating system.Detailed information on configuring the Ethernet interface can be found under “Setting up the programminginterface” on page 175 and “Configuring the Ethernet connection” on page 107.The functions of many components in the tightening system are implemented via software. This includes:– CS351 Compact System– BS350 operating system– ErgoSpin ESA, ESV and ESM hand-held nutrunnersThis software (full version) has been created during product development and is available on the SystemStick.An additional program version is installed when a full version of the BS350 is installed. Old program versionsthat are no longer needed can be uninstalled (deleted) after the new version has been installed.Updates for the full version are also provided via the Internet as a part of product development.In general, there are two types of software updates:– Service packs for the BS350 always refer to a full version and also contain the changes carried outin the previous service packs. Service packs for the BS350 require an installation of the appropriatefull version, as the packs only add supplements to the installed full version.– In contrast, a service pack for a firmware completely replaces the previous firmware version.NoteService packs are provided in the Internet under http://www.schraubtechnik.com.10.1.3.1 Software and firmware version requirementsAll components are provided with installed firmware.System 350 | 3 608 878 040/05.2008
