248/316 Bosch Rexroth AG | Tightening Technology 10 Working with the System10.1 Settings in the BS350NoteIf the component is used as a replacement or extension in an existing system, the firmware used in thatsystem must be applied.10.1.3.2 Firmware updatesThe interrelations of the software and firmware versions are currently stored in the Internet under:http://www.schraubtechnik.com. You can also find instructions for upgrades/downgrades there.NoteBefore performing the firmware update, backup your current settings and firmware versions via theBack-up function in the BS350. This will make it possible to access the previous version at any time.Firmware updates are used to update the software in the various components of the tightening system.The firmware for the hardware components can only be updated using the BS350 operating system.NoteThe software versions can be called up in the BS350 operating system:– Firmware of the components per tightening channel under System test → Info tightening cell→ Firmware– BS350 operating program under ? → About BS350To perform a firmware update:1. In the BS350 operating system, click on Data → Firmware update.The hardware components whose firmware is to be updated are specified by selecting the correspondingfile type.Table 10–1: Firmware file typesFile type*.elf*.mhx*.fpo*.smmHardware componentsCompact SystemServo amplifier and ErgoSpinFPGAMENMON2. Select the firmware file with the current firmware.3. Only for the firmware for the CS351:Select the two languages for the TFT display under Update language packs.4. Click on Channel...The Channel selection dialog will open.5. Select the desired tightening channel and then click on Close.6. Click on Update.10.1.3.3 Converting existing programs and applications after a firmware updateDue to the further development of hardware and software for the Tightening System 350, it may be necessaryto update existing tightening programs in accordance with the firmware versions used in the tighteningcell components.Tightening programs that were created with older program/firmware versions can still be run. It is alsopossible to send a tightening program with an older version to the controller. After the Send commandhas been given, the program version is compared to the firmware version and any incompatibility reported,if necessary. If, in spite of an incompatibility, you send the tightening program, it will be sent in the olderversion.The version will be compared to the current BS350/firmware version if a tightening program is called upin the BS350. Select the desired language and click on OK.Due to the system, all windows will be closed. Afterwards, the entire user interface will appear inthe selected language.10.1.3.5 CS351 Compact System display languagesEach software version of the tightening system comes with a so-called language pack for the text displayedin the Compact System. The following languages are available:– German– English– French– Spanish– Portuguese– ItalianTwo languages may be specified for the Compact System. One of these languages can be selected forthe application.To display the language packs:⇒ In the BS350 operating system, click on System test → Info tightening cell → Language pack.An overview of the installed language packs for the entire tightening cell will be displayed:Figure 10–1:Overview of the installed language packs for the tightening cellTo set the languages:You can set the language in the BS350 or directly via the TFT display in the CS351E-G.To change the languages available in the CS351:1. In the BS350 operating system, click on System → HMI SE/CS configuration.2. Under Language 1 and Language 2, select the languages that should be available on the CS351.3. Under Active language, select which of the languages should be the active one.4. Click on Data → Send to send the modified setting to the controller.NoteThe language pack can be updated this way without having to update the firmware for the CS351.To select the language for the CS351E-G:⇒ In the TFT display, select System → HMI configuration.You can select a maximum of two of the installed languages.
