Adding Beam Systems<br />

To save changes, click File menu ➤ Save As, and save the exercise file with a unique name, or<br />

close the exercise file without saving changes. The next exercise uses a new training file.<br />

In this exercise, you add beam systems to Level 2.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open<br />

<strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_CSM_Add_Beam_System.rvt.<br />

Sketch the beam system<br />

1 In the Project Browser, under Structural Plans, double-click Level 2.<br />

2 Zoom in on the east side of the structure where you previously added the beams.<br />

3 On the Modelling tab of the Design Bar, click Beam System.<br />

4 On the Options Bar, click Sketch.<br />

5 On the Design Bar, click Structural Beam System Properties.<br />

6 In the Element Properties dialog:<br />

■ Under Constraints, enter -400 mm for Elevation.<br />

■ Under Pattern, select Fixed Distance for Layout Rule.<br />

■ For Spacing, enter 1800 mm.<br />

■ For Justification, select Center.<br />

■ For Beam Type, select UB-Universal Beam: 254x102x28UB.<br />

7 Click OK.<br />
