38 On the Drafting tab of the Design Bar, click Beam System Tag.<br />

Move the cursor over the beams in the drawing area, and notice the tag for the specific beam<br />

system displays.<br />

39 Click any beam within the beam system to place the tag.<br />

40 Click File ➤ Close.<br />

You can save the open file if you wish. In the next exercise a new training file is provided.<br />

Creating a Custom Beam Tag<br />

In this exercise, you learn how to create a custom beam tag that includes multiple categories and then apply<br />

the tag to different beam types.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open <strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_Custom_beam_tag.rvt.<br />

Open the beam tag family<br />

1 In the Project Browser, expand Structural Plans, and double-click Level 2.<br />

2 Click one of the 254x102x28UB beam tags, and on the Options Bar, click Edit Family.<br />

When prompted to open the Structural Framing Tag for editing, click Yes. You are now in the<br />

Family Editor.<br />

3 Click the structural label, and on the Options Bar, click Edit Label.<br />

Add multiple categories to the beam label<br />

4 In the Edit Label dialog, add the following categories:<br />

■ Under Category Parameters, select Number of studs, and click (Add parameter).<br />

The new category is added to the label as parameter 2.<br />
