Importing/Linking a DWG File<br />

In this exercise, you import a 2-dimensional (2D) typical detail drawing file (DWG format) that was already<br />

created in AutoCAD, also, you save these drawings into a Revit library, providing accessibility from multiple<br />

projects.<br />

Training File<br />

Continue to use the project training file saved in the previous exercise, m_RST_EW_Detailing.rvt.<br />

Creating a new drafting view<br />

1 In the Project Browser, select Views (all) ➤ Structural Plans ➤ Level 2.<br />

2 Click View menu ➤ New ➤ Drafting View.<br />

3 In the New Drafting View dialog, for Name, enter Typical Detail, and then click OK.<br />

Notice that the Detail View is now available in the Project Browser, under Drafting Views<br />

(Detail) ➤ Typical Detail<br />

Importing the DWG file<br />

4 Click File menu ➤ Import/Link ➤ CAD Formats.<br />

5 In the Import/Link dialog, do the following:<br />

■ In the left pane of the Import/Link dialog, click Training Files, and select<br />

<strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_EW_Typ_RC_detail.dwg<br />

■ For Colors, select Black and White.<br />

■ For Positioning, select Auto - Center to Center.<br />

■ Click Open.<br />

6 Enter ZF.<br />

The detail drawing now appears in the drawing area.
