temporary) are shown in the same timeline. In a phase such as Phase 1, it might be desirable to<br />

show previous phases or demolition.<br />

Create phase-specific plan views<br />

38 In the Project Browser, under Floor Plans, right-click Floor, and click Rename.<br />

39 In the Rename View dialog, enter Existing, and click OK.<br />

You are asked if you want to rename corresponding level and views. This refers to the ceiling<br />

plan and the level line visible in any of the elevation views. Because this is a phase-specific view,<br />

you do not want to rename the corresponding views and level.<br />

40 Click No.<br />

41 In the Project Browser, under Floor Plans, right-click Existing, and click Duplicate.<br />

42 In the Project Browser, under Floor Plans, right-click Copy of Existing, and click Rename.<br />

43 In the Rename View dialog, enter Phase 1 (south), and click OK.<br />

You now have a separate floor plan for the existing building model and for Phase 1, which will<br />

include planned demolition.<br />

44 Repeat the process to create a view named Phase 2 (north)<br />

Manage the phases for a view<br />

45 In the Project Browser, under Floor Plans, double-click Existing.<br />

46 Click View menu ➤ View Properties.<br />

47 In the Element Properties dialog, under Phasing, select Existing for Phase, and click OK.<br />

The line style of the walls and openings are displayed as black.<br />

48 In the Project Browser, under Floor Plans, double click Phase 1 (south).<br />

49 Click View menu ➤ View Properties.<br />

50 In the View Properties dialog, under Phasing, select Phase 1 (south) for the Phase value, and<br />

click OK.<br />

The line style of the new work, in phase 1, shows as black. Phase 1 (south) occurs after existing<br />

construction, Because of this time relationship, a graphic override is used to make “older” existing<br />

elements use the gray line style. You can see the earlier existing phase because the phase filter<br />

is set to Show All.<br />

Demolish the interior walls<br />

51 On the Tools toolbar, click .<br />

The cursor is displayed as a hammer.<br />
