Adding Shafts<br />

11 Proceed to the next exercise, Adding Shafts on page 165.<br />

In this exercise, you add 2 shaft openings on Level 2.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open <strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_CSM_Adding_Shafts.rvt.<br />

Add first stairway shaft opening<br />

1 In the Project Browser, under Structural Plans, double-click Level 2.<br />

NOTE Make sure this view is using the Wireframe model graphics display style. If it is not, use the<br />

View Control Bar to make the change.<br />

2 Enter WF (keyboard shortcut for Wireframe).<br />

3 Zoom around the stairway in grid location F3-G4.<br />

4 On the Modelling tab of the Design Bar, click Opening ➤ Shaft Opening.<br />

5 On the Design Bar, click Pick Walls.<br />

6 Select the 4 walls surrounding the stairwell.<br />

7 On the Design Bar, click Properties.<br />

8 In the Element Properties dialog, under Constraints, do the following:<br />

■ For Top Constraint, select Up to level: Roof.<br />

■ For Base Constraint, select Foundation.<br />

■ For Top Offset, enter -300 mm.<br />

■ For Base Offset, enter -300 mm.<br />

■ Click OK.<br />
