The slab has not responded exactly as intended. The entire slab is sloped. In some cases this<br />

type of slope is desired, but in this case you want the insulation layer to create the slope. You<br />

edit the construction of the slab type to achieve this result.<br />

32 In the Element Properties dialog, click Edit/New.<br />

33 In the Type Properties dialog, under Construction, for Structure, click Edit.<br />

34 In the Edit Assembly dialog, for the Thermal/Air Layer, select Variable.<br />

By making the insulation layer variable, the slope will be accommodated in the insulation layer,<br />

leaving the other layers to maintain the original plane of placement for the roof.<br />

35 Click OK 3 times.<br />

36 View the results in the section view.<br />

The insulation now tapers from the edges to the drain in the center.<br />

37 If you want to save your changes, on the File menu, click Save As, and save the exercise file with<br />

a unique name.<br />

38 Close the exercise file without saving your changes.<br />
