You begin by sketching the perimeter of the roof in plan view to create the roof footprint. You use roof slope<br />

lines to define the roof gable ends.<br />

To complete the gable roof with the correct pitch, you set the roof slope as a property of the footprint slope<br />

lines.<br />

Training File<br />

Continue to use the training file you used in the previous exercise, m_Roofs.rvt.<br />

1 On the Basics tab of the Design Bar, click Roof ➤ Roof by Footprint.<br />

2 Select Garage Roof to move the roof to the correct level, and click Yes.<br />

3 In the Project Browser, expand Views (all), expand Floor Plans, and double-click Garage Roof.<br />

Next, sketch the roof footprint.<br />

4 On the Sketch tab of the Design Bar, click Pick Walls.<br />

5 On the Options Bar, verify that Defines slope is selected, and enter 600 for Overhang.<br />

6 Select the left vertical wall of the garage to define the first roof slope line. Verify that a dashed<br />

blue line displays to the left of the wall from the edge of the roof as you select the wall.<br />
