17 On the Design Bar, click Modify.<br />

Save the new truss family<br />

18 Click File menu ➤ Save As.<br />

19 In the Save As dialog, do the following:<br />

■ For Save in, navigate to a folder of your choice.<br />

■ For File name, enter M_Custom_Truss.<br />

■ For Save as type, select Family Files (rfa).<br />

■ Click OK.<br />

Load the truss into the project<br />

20 On the Design Bar, click Load into Projects.<br />

21 In the Load into Projects dialog, select m_RST_Truss_Custom_Family.rvt, and click OK.<br />

Place the custom truss<br />

You are now in the project file.<br />

22 In the Project Browser, under Structural Plans, double-click Level 2.<br />

23 On the Design Bar, click Truss.<br />

24 In the Type Selector, select M_Custom_Truss.<br />

25 Click the column at grid location A1 to establish the start point of the truss.<br />

26 Click the column at grid location A4 to establish the endpoint of the truss as shown.
