Creating a Custom Truss Family<br />

In this exercise, you use the Revit Structure Family Editor to create a custom truss family.<br />

Training File<br />

■ Click File menu ➤ Open.<br />

■ In the left pane of the Open dialog, click Training Files, and open <strong>Metric</strong>\m_RST_Truss_Custom_Family.rvt.<br />

Open the truss family<br />

1 Click File ➤ New ➤ Family.<br />

2 In the left pane of the Open dialog, click the Training Files icon.<br />

3 Open <strong>Metric</strong>_Structural_Trusses.rft located in the <strong>Metric</strong> folder.<br />

Sketch web reference planes<br />

4 On the Design Bar, click Ref Plane.<br />

5 Sketch 5 vertical reference planes approximately as shown.<br />

6 On the Design Bar, click Dimension, and place dimensions to each reference plane as shown.<br />

7 Click the EQ symbol to apply equal constraints.<br />
